Korean, b. 1956
Born in 1943 in Daegu and studied painting at the Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. Born in 1956 in Cheongdo, South Korea, he lives and works in Paris, France and Seoul, Korea. Exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, he developed his monochromatic works with tangible depth and intensity. Over years, he utilized exclusively with raw charcoal to create minimal, redefined works on canvas as well as larger carbonized trunks installations. Until now, over 50 solo exhibitions were held in domestic and international museums such as Guimet Museum of Asian Art 2015 France, Foundation Fernet-Branca 2014, Daegu Art Museum 2014, Saint-etienne Museum of Contemporary art 2011 and Beijing Today Art Museum 2009.
