British, b. 1937
David Hockney was born in Bradford, England in 1937. He graduated from the Bradford School of Art and studied at the Royal College of Art in 1962. Hockney contributed to founding of the British Pop Art movement and has become one of the most renowned artists of the time.
A versatile artist, Hockney has produced work in almost every medium including full-scale opera stages, prints, and drawings exploring newest technology such as fax machines, laser photocopiers, computers, and even iPhones and iPads. Hockney has had solo exhibitions at musuems and galleries worldwide throughout his career.
